The cost of electricity is rapidly increasing in our country. In this scorching heat, people cannot even turn off the fans to keep the monthly electric bill to the bare minimum. In Pakistan, the line losses of distribution companies (DISCOs) are one of the highest in the world. It seems that to cover up these losses, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has come up with an unfair scheme that creates more problems for end consumers. The company sends the monthly bill just a couple of days before the last date of payment. Many consumers fail to meet the deadline because of their prior commitments. As a result, they pay penalties along with the principal amount.

The authorities concerned are requested to look into this issue and install a system that ensures that monthly bills are dispatched in a timely manner.
