Progress linked to quality education

FAISALABAD: No nation could progress without imparting quality education to students and committed and skilled teachers are prerequisite to achieve the goal, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan.
Addressing the teaching faculty at the UAF Iqbal Auditorium here on Saturday, he urged the teachers to become self-accountable and perform their duties honestly and effectively. He said that the knowledge-based economies, including the US, Japan and China, were progressing at a large pace. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of the government for promotion of education. He said that it was the hallmark step that the government had doubled the number of scholarships under the PEEF. He said that the university was bringing the state-of-the-art education and examination system to facilitate the students. He said that it was their duty to equip the students with skills and moral values to steer the country out of different challenges. He urged the researchers to work jointly to solve the problems being faced by the industry and the farmers. He said that the UAF was having the talented manpower and teaching community of 670. Of them, 410 were PhDs, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Controller Examinations Dr Abdul Wahid said that the online result submission for the faculty members had been started that would help strengthen the examination system. He said that online facility of results was introduced for the students.
