Korangi industrialists promise PHF financial support
KARACHI: Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) chairman and other industrialists have promised to provide financial support to PHF for promotion of hockey, ‘The News’ learnt on Friday.
The meeting held by PHF president Khalid Khokhar and secretary Shahbaz Ahmed with the businessmen on Thursday proved fruitful as the latter assured the former of support for arrangements of the national championship, scheduled to be held in Karachi from December 26.
The PHF top officials called on the KATI chairman Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui and it was decided in the meeting that KATI would provide financial support to PHF.
KATI assured that it would provide financial help to PHF for hockey activities in other parts of the country as well.
The PHF did not ask any specific amount, however.
Sources said that it was decided in the meeting that a delegation of KATI, comprising big industrialists, would visit HCP on Wednesday and a modus operandi would be decided for supporting the national championship and other hockey development activities.
On that occasion PHF officials Olympians Kamran Ashraf and Qamar Ibrahim would brief the industrialists about the arrangements of the championship, the sources said.
They added KATI was expected to provide handsome prize money for the championship.
PHF president Khalid Khokhar told ‘The News’ that the meeting with KATI had been positive as KATI chairman had assured them of financial support. He further said that a delegation of KATI would visit HCP.
The PHF president and secretary left the city on Friday and would come back a couple of days before the championship.
