Peshawar, other parts of KP receive rain
PESHAWAR: Torrential rain lashed the provincial capital and other parts of the province on Monday bringing the temperature down and turning the weather pleasant and cold.
The rain started at noon and continued with intervals till evening, causing flowing of water on streets and roads and inundating the low-lying areas in Peshawar.Rainwater accumulated on roads, causing hardships to motorists and pedestrians, though the shower turned the weather chilly. There were also reports of thunderstorm rain shower from other parts of the province as well.
Weather pundits had predicted rain from Sunday in different parts of the country. Met office forecast more rain during the night and on Tuesday.According to the Met Office, Murree in Punjab had received the highest amount of rain, 65 millimetres, till evening followed by Kot Addu with 27 millimetres, and Mangla 19, Rawalpindi Shamsabad 14, Toba Tek Singh 17, Jehlum 16, DG Khan 15, RahimYar Khan 11, Gujrat 10, Khanpur 08, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Jhang 07, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Khaniwal 06, Chakwal, Sahiwal and Sialkot 05,Okara, Multan 04, Gujranwal, Bhakar and Bahawalpur 03, Lahor, Narawal 02, Noorpur, Thal, Layya and Qasoor 01.
In Kashmir, Rawlakot received 59, Garhi Dupatta 47, Muzaffarabad 36 and Kotli 23 millimetres rain while in KP Malam Jabba in Swat received 29, Kakool and Parachinar 24, Balakot 17, Saidu Sharif 15, Patan 14, Upper Dir13, Lower Dir 11, Bannu 10, Kalam, DI Khan and Peshawar 07, Mir Khani 03, Drosh 2, Cherat and Takht Bhai 01.
Khuzdar in Balochistan received 22 millimetres, Quetta 17, Ziarat 16, Pasheen 10, Muslim Bagh 09, Zoob 07, Chaman 06, Loralai, Mastoong 05, Qalat 02 and Dalbandeen 01 while in Gilgit-Baltistan Astor received 22 millimeters, Ponji 05, Skardu, Chilas 03, Bagrot 02 and Gopas 01 millimetre.
In Sindh Mohnjo Daro 12, Dadu 11, Larkana 03, Pid Adan 02, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jakobabad and Rorhi 01.
MANSEHRA: The Karakoram Highway, which was blocked in Upper Kohistan because of the landslide, was reopened to traffic on Monday.
The rain which started in Mansehra, Torghar, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan and Kolai-Palas on Sunday continued intermittently the entire day in the Hazara division making the weather cold.
The passengers, who were stranded after the blockade of the KKH in Upper Kohistan left for respective destinations in the country after district administration reopened it for the traffic after hectic efforts for hours.
