Edu Dept clerk held for corruption

GUJRANWALA: The ACE arrested a clerk of the Education Department on a charge of corruption here on Monday.
The ACE raided and caught clerk Amjad red-handed while receiving Rs 5,000 bribe from Sadiq. The raid was conducted on an application of Azmat Ali in which he alleged that the clerk was demanding bribe to release salary of his brother Sadiq, a watchman of the Education Department. A case has been registered.
HUMAN TRAFFICKER HELD: The FIA arrested a human trafficker at Jalalpur Jattan on Monday.
The FIA team under the supervision of Assistant Director Muhammad Sarwar raided and arrested human trafficker Safeer Hussain. He was involved in sending people abroad through bogus documents. A case has been registered.
UC vice-chairman held under influence

GUJRANWALA: A newly-elected UC-43 vice-chairman was arrested for drinking liquor.
Eminabad police arrested Qasim Riaz of the PML-N for driving under the influence. Police also recovered two liquor bottles from him his car. Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate Saima Yaqoob sent him to the jail on a 14-day remand.
Death warrants for two prisoners

GUJRANWALA: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Imtiaz Ahmad on Monday issued death warrants for two condemned prisoners Zafar Iqbal and Khalid Mehmood. They will be hanged in the Sialkot Central Jail on December 12. Sialkot police have arrested them for killing Munawar and Arif in 1998.
