No let-up in dacoities in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: Citizens were deprived of cash, vehicles and valuables in 25 incidents in several areas of Gujranwala.
In Alipur Chattha locality gunmen snatched Rs 31,000 and a cellphone from Arshad.
Azmat was deprived of Rs 14,000 and a cellphone in Alipur Chattha locality. In Sodhra area dacoits took away Rs 22,000 and a cellphone from Nadeem. Rizwana was deprived of Rs 9,000 and a cellphone in Ahmadnagar Chattha locality. At Ferozewala bandits snatched Rs 21,000 and two cellphones from Habib. In Sadr Wazirabad police station limit robbers snatched Rs 14,000 and a cellphone from Hamid. In City Kamoke area dacoits took away Rs 15,000 and two cell phones from Razzaq. In Baghbanpura area Khurram was deprived of Rs 8,000 and a cellphone. Abdul Karim was deprived of his new motorcycle in this area in Baghbanpura area. Three dacoits took away new motorcycle of Abdul Karim from near fruit market. In Aroop locality robbers snatched Rs 11,000 and a cellphone from Babar.
Robbers snatched new motorcycle from Karamat. Thieves lifted new car of Chand, new motorcycles of Ali Hassan, Imran, Abdul Aziz, Sikandar, Nadeem, Rehman, Rana Azeem, Fayyaz, Younis and Arif.
FUNCTION: Commissioner Shamail Ahmad Khawaja Saturday said children are the most “vulnerable group” in society.
Addressing a ceremony held in Quaid-e-Azam Divisional Public School in the honour of children homed at child protection bureau, the commissioner said children were facing numerous challenges. He said it was our collective responsibility to help the neglected and destitute children in our surroundings as our future is in their hands. Former president chamber of commerce and industry Noman Salahuddin, principal public school Sajid Jamal, DO child protection bureau Ahmed Cheema and other officers were also present. The commissioner said we are committed to provide an enabling environment to the children to harness their full potential, these homeless children would be met with standard education in DPS while they shall also be provided with pick and drop facility.
He directed the principal of QDPS to allocate the class rooms and also nominate the best teachers for the purpose. He underscored the dire need for due recognition and proper understanding of the problem and a pragmatic strategy to help these children. He said growing poverty was one of the major contributory factors towards the situation and that there was need for a multi-sector approach to address the situation.
HUMAN TRAFFICKER HELD: FIA team led by assistant director Muhammad Sarwar Saturday raided a locality and arrested a red book accused named Imran Ashraf from Gujrat. The accused was involved in sending people abroad through bogus documents and many cases have been registered against him.
