Four die, three hurt as rivals trade fire

OKARA: Four people were killed while three others injured in shootout between two rival groups over land dispute in the limits of Haveli Lakha police on Friday.
There was rivalry between Sheikhukay Wattoo group and Dhullar group over a piece of land at Akbarkay village. After Juma prayers, both groups armed with weapons came across in a bazaar and opened fire at each other. As a result, Sher Muhammad Wattoo, Amin Wattoo and Ghulam Rasool Wattoo of Sheikhukay group and Dhullar, head of Dhullar group, killed on the spot. Three others, including Allah Nawaz and Shah Nawaz, received bullet injuries.
After receiving information, the police reached the site and took the bodies in custody and shifted the injured persons to a hospital.
THREE ARRESTED: The district police arrested three people with liquor here on Friday.
A-Division police arrested Masih of Christian Colony with 30 litre liquor while Hujra Shah Muqeem police nabbed Akram of Mohallah Shah Mir with 33 litre liquor.
Hujra Shah Muqeem police arrested Maqsood for running a distillery and also recovered 6kg Hashish and 30 litre liquor from the site. Cases have been registered.
CM gives police 5 days to nab patwari

OKARA: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Okara police to arrest a patwari, involved in land allotment case, within five days.
The absconding patwari, Muhammad Hussain, is involved in 984-acre land allotment case. In this case, Assistant Commissioner Asif Rauf Khan has already been suspended while three revenue officials, naib tehsildar Anjum Hafeez, naib tehsildar Rana Riaz and patwari Irshad, have been arrested.
