362 panels of UCs chairman,
vice-chairman contesting in Jhang

JHANG: Total 1,230,061 voters will cast their votes during the third phase of local government elections in the district on December 5.
According to the data of election office, there are 90 union councils in the Jhang District Council and 50 wards in the Jhang municipality, 23 in the Shorkot municipality, 11 in the Ahmadpur Sial municipality, 13 in Garh Maharaja municipality and 11 in 18-Hazaari municipality. There are 362 panels of UCs chairman and vice-chairman. Total 2,069 candidates are contesting for the general councillor slots.
As many as 47 candidates for the general councillor slots and three panels of UC chairman and vice-chairman have been elected unopposed in the district.
Meanwhile, Jhang Assistant Commissioner and Returning Officer Imran Asmat said that total 1,084 polling stations would be established in the district. He said that the polling scheme along with duty of polling staff and transportation had been finalised by the ROs and directions had been issued to the polling staff to arrive at their respective polling stations prior to the polling time. Imran Asmat said that name and location of polling stations would be displayed outside offices of the respective ROs for voters’ convenience and information.
