CHITRAL: The police distributed food and non-food items among the earthquake affectees in the district.Giving details to The News on Monday, District Police Officer (DPO) Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat said that along with the district administration and other relief providing agencies, the police also took part in the distribution of the food and non-food items among the affectees of the October 26’s earthquake in the district.
He said the police distributed essential commodities to 1,860 affected families across the district from Yarkhoun to Arandu. “I personally monitored the activities whether it was distribution of relief items or clearance of the roads and routes in the district,” DPO said.
He said the police distributed 876 packages of food items, 220 tents, 60 floor mats, 350 flour bags, 39 bags of warm clothes, 104 bags of garments, 122 quilts and 89 blankets. He said the Chitral Police, being a strong force of 2,060 officers and jawans, was also used in rescue operations as well as physically clearing the roads having been blocked due to land-sliding.
