LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has appealed to the nation to observe Youm-e-Dua (prayers day) on Friday (today) for the deliverance of the Islamists being victimised by the pro-India government in Bangladesh in the name of war crimes.
In a statement on Thursday, he called upon the United Nations to raise voice against state oppression of Islamists in Bangladesh and stop the judicial massacre of innocent people. He said Dhaka government headed by Hasina Wajid was victimising all those resisting Indian influence in BD. It was a paradox, he said, that Dhaka was treating all those who advocated independence and sovereignty for Bangladesh as its enemies.
JI chief appealed the people to pray for the safety of JI Bangladesh leaders Ali Ahsan Mujahid and Salahud Din Qadir Ch who had been sentenced to death by the controversial war crimes tribunal and BD Supreme Court had upheld the tribunal decision. He urged the prayer leaders and the Ulema to raise their voice against the injustice of the Dhaka regime in their Friday sermons.
Meanwhile, talking to a women delegation from Balochistan which called on him at Mansoora, Sirajul Haq said the tyrant Baloch Sardars were primarily responsible for the present deprivations of their province as they cared only for their personal gains.
He said federal government had been also continuously ignoring the problems faced by people of Balochistan. He said immediate measures were needed for the development of Balochistan province and for brining it at par with the other provinces. He said people of Balochistan had a right over the resources of their province. The 50-member delegation was headed by the chief of the JI Balochistan women wing Samina Saeed, and Pari Gul Baloch, and Shazia Ikram.
JI chief said Baloch Sardars had been opposing developments projects related to education, roads and health and jobs in the province only to retain their hold.
He said the young ones of these Sardars were getting education in London, Paris and New York but they would not allow primary schools in their own areas. The Sardars got medical treatment abroad but opposed basic health centers in their localities. As a result, the people of Balochistan had remained illiterate, jobless and without basic health facilities. The plight of government schools in area like Gawader was deplorable. And here was marked difference between the government schools in Islamabad and Balochistan.
Sirajul Haq stressed that the development projects of Balochistan should be given preference in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and the local youth should be provided jobs on preference basis.
He said that the government had so far not been able to provide clean drinking water to the people in Balochistan and the women folk had to fetch drinking water from far off places. Similarly, the students had to travel for miles to reach schools while the roads were mostly dilapidated.
