Widows of two Sundar tragedy victims compensated

OKARA: Widows of two men, who fell victim to the Sundar factory tragedy, were compensated by the Punjab government on Wednesday.
Labour Officer Shamsul Haq gave compensatory cheques to the widows of Shakil Ahmad, of Salhuwal, tehisl Depalpur and Aurangzeb, of 7/1R.
The names of widows are Sonia Bibi and Perveen Bibi, respectively.
MAN DIES IN ACCIDENT: A man was crushed to death by a speeding tractor.
Zakir Hussain of Youngpur village was standing at a village bus stop when a speeding tractor (KSA-8028) hit him, leaving him dead on the spot.
CATTLE SNATCHED: Fifteen cattle worth Rs 1,533,400 were snatched by dacoits from a vehicle when these cattle were being taken away from Multan to Lahore.
Muhammad Yousuf of Sheikhupura was carrying the cattle from Multan to Lahore in a truck.
When the vehicle reached near Kot Bari, six robbers intercepted it and snatched the cattle and Rs 33,400.

Wapda workers end strike

OKARA: The Wapda workers ended their strike when a committee was established to probe the FIRs against Wapda men.
Their protest merged into a countrywide demonstration against privatization of Wapda.
The probe committee included Chief Engineer Mujahid Hussain, Superintending Engineer Nazeer Ahmad, Rana Shahid Hafeez Chairman Wapda Labour Union, Muhammad Akram general secretary. Due to the strike of the Wapda officials the people are suffering immensely.
