The federal government wants the Sindh government to complete mega development projects in Karachi as soon as possible, Federal Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar asserted in a meeting with Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan on Tuesday.
This desire of the federal government to see the development projects — including K-IV Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme, S-III Sewerage Treatment Plan, M-9 Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway and the Green Line bus service — was conveyed to the governor during a meeting at the Governor’s House.
The federal minister said there were clear-cut instructions from prime minister that progress and development on these projects should not be delayed by any means so to ensure timely relief to masses.
Federal finance minister, on the occasion, also briefed Ebad about steps taken by the federal government for securing the economic and financial targets to stabilising the economy and providing incentives to foreign investors willing to invest in Sindh, especially Karachi.
He said progress on the proposed Pak-China Economic Corridor would provide fresh avenues and prospects for socio-economic progress and development in the country. He said the federal government had been trying to resolve major socio-economic problems of the country in order to bring financial and economic stability.
The Sindh governor said on the occasion said new development initiatives would become the lifeline for Karachi since it would resolve complicated civic issues and would also provide long-term relief to residents of the metropolitan city.
He said it was a good sign that federal government was willing to provide utmost assistance to provincial authorities for the implementation of these new development projects in Karachi.
