CHARSADDA: Failed to get required funds despite hectic efforts for years, the villagers in Tangi tehsil have started collecting money from people for construction of road on self-help basis.
The residents of Bagh Killay have started collecting money for construction of five-kilometer road after the government’s failure to initiate work despite repeated requests from the villagers. Before starting the door-to-door money collection campaign, the villagers staged protest and chanted slogans against the government.
They criticised the government for collecting taxes from people, saying that the government should not levy tax on citizens when it could not provide them facilities. They villagers announced boycott from political activities in future. However, Member Provincial Assembly Khalid Khan belonging to the Qaumi Watan Party told The News that government would also provide funds for the project. “As our party is now part of provincial government, we will allocate funds for the project,” he maintained.
