JHANG: Three assailants Tuesday axed to death a woman and injured her husband critically.
Mukhtar Ahmad and his wife Nasira Bibi of Naseerabad were sleeping at their house when three accused entered the house and axed to death his wife and injured him critically. Mukhtar told the 18 Hazari police that he married Nasira ten years ago and her brothers were not happy with this marriage.
Mukhtar was shifted to DHQ hospital.
PRIVATE HOSPITALS’ WORKERS HIRED FOR ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: When doctors and paramedics of the DHQ and government city hospitals refused to administer anti-polio drops to kids, the Health Department Tuesday hired services of workers of private hospitals and clinics to administer anti-drops to the children. The EDO Health and other officers decided not to disturb government hospitals doctors in this regard. The EDO sought the help of private workers to avoid action. He even sought assistance of unskilled girl students of midwifery school. Sources said workers of private hospitals are not capable to maintain temperature of vaccinations.
When contacted, EDO Health Dr Zafar Abbas said he was informed by the MS DHQ hospital and Senior Medical Officer/incharge of City hospital that their staffers are exempted from anti-polio duty as per tradition. He said the Health Department had provided funds and allowed hiring services of workers of private hospitals to administer anti-polio drops to the children.
