KARACHI: Karachi is ready to host the biggest squash exhibition match in December, between World No 10 Karim Abdel Gawad and World No 21 Mazen Hesham from Egypt.
“They will play an exhibition match and spend a day with our players and give them tips,”said Sindh Squash Association (SSA) secretary Amir Khan while talking to ‘The News’.
He added that the Sindh government would provide them full security and would host a dinner for them. “The match will be given full coverage in both press and electronic media since this is a big event to boost squash in the province,” said Amir.
He said the players would arrive on December 6. “They will play the match on December 8 and leave on the 9th,” he added.
“We want to revive squash in Sindh to benefit the young players. We all know the political situation in Pakistan is so unstable that foreigners don’t feel comfortable traveling to our country,” said Amir.
“By organising this event, we want to change the image of Pakistan. The top-ranked Egyptian players have agreed to bring their incredible talent to Karachi. The exhibition match will be open to the whole city,” said Amir.
