Deceased’s relatives block road, demand arrest of accused

FAISALABAD: The D-Type Colony police have registered a case against 31 accused, including six nominated, for killing a PTI worker and injuring three others at Samanabad. The nominated accused are: Sohail alias Seela, Manzoor Jatt, Malik Asif, Tariq Awan, Abdul Qayyum and Shahzad Ahmad. The accused had opened fire on a rally of the PTI candidate Rehmat Ansari. As a result, PTI worker Mubashir Ahmad was killed on the spot while three others were injured. The case has been instituted under sections 302, 324, 109, 148 and 149 of the PPC and 7-ATA.
Meanwhile, the relatives of Mubashir Ahmad, along with the area people, staged a demonstration on the Samundri Road for several hours on Sunday. They were demanding arrest of the accused. They called off their protest on the assurance of the local administration and police high-ups that the accused would be arrested soon.
