SIALKOT: Ch Tariq Islam, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for general councillor slot from UC Talwara Mughlan, was shot dead by two unidentified motorcyclists near Jamia Idreesia on Tuesday.
Ch Tariq, father of four children, was murdered when he was going back after leaving his children at the gate of Jamia Idreesia. Police have registered a case. Meanwhile, hundreds of JI and Shabab-e-Milli activists staged a demonstration against the murder on Circular Road near Talab Sheikh Maula Bakhsh and blocked the road for traffic. Addressing the demonstrators, JI district ameer Sh Attiqur Rehman, ex-MPA Arshad Mehmood, Sh Saeed Zafar and others strongly condemned the murder of Tariq Islam and demanded immediate arrest of the killers within three days. They warned that the JI would launch a countrywide protest if the killers were not arrested within three days.
EIGHT BOOKED: Rangpura police on Tuesday booked eight people on the charge of wearing outfit resembling to the uniform of the Rangers at Mori Gate area. They include Zaheer, Shakeel and Danish. The accused persons were the private security guards of an Imambargah.
