SWABI: District Nazim and Awami National Party Swabi President Amir Rahman has urged PTI chief Imran Khan to materialise his promises regarding empowering of the local government bodies for betterment of masses.
“We have no intention to disgrace Imran Khan or create hurdles in his political activities as we only urged him to fulfil his promises pertaining to empowerment of the local government bodies for the betterment of the people of KP,” he said in a press statement issued here on Friday.
Being the followers of great Pakhtoon leader Bacha Khan, he said the ANP workers are bound to respect all politicians, including Imran Khan, and would continue efforts for the rights of people through peaceful and political means.
Rahman said elected representatives of Local Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are demanding rights and powers since completion of the election process and it was the responsibility of the PTI government to address their issues forthwith.
“Before completion of Local Government elections, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and his party leaders have time and again reaffirmed their commitment of empowering the local government institutions, but unfortunately all elected representatives, including the District, Town Nazims and Naib Nazims are now lacking powers to address the masses’ problems and carry out development works as people have attached high expectations from them.”
In order to remind Imran Khan and other leaders of PTI government about their promises, he said, the PTI chief would be welcomed with black flags in hands during his expected visit in the first week of November as a mark of peaceful protest.
He urged the PTI chairman to direct Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to transfer powers to local government institutions so that problems of masses could be addressed without any further delay. He said PTI leaders must realise their responsibilities and address problems of LG representatives otherwise, the elected nazims and councillors would launch protest movement for their rights in the province.
