MULTAN: The south Punjab PPP leadership Thursday paid glowing tributes to former PPP chairperson Begum Nusrat Bhutto on her fourth death anniversary.
Addressing a round table moot former Punjab governor and south Punjab PPP president Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood said Nusrat played a vital role for the promotion of democracy in the country.
He said the current democracy is the result of the struggle of the Bhutto family.
The former governor said Nusrat was the first lady in South Asia who had struggled hard against the dictatorship and faced tyrannies of dictators.
South Punjab PPP senior vice president Hyder Zaman Qureshi said revenge of the Pakistani people was manifested in the electoral victory of Pakistan People’s Party under Benazir Bhutto’s leadership.
South Punjab PPP general secretary Shaukat Basra said Nusrat fought the battle for the empowerment of the people in the streets against dictatorship. She fought for their rights in the apex courts. PPP leaders Tochi Khan, Khawaja Rizwan Allam and others also spoke.
