Class 9 student attempts suicide in school

HAFIZABAD: A class 9 student attempted suicide at the Government High School No-1 here on Friday.
Hafiz Zeeshan of Mohallah Mian Da Kot attempted suicide by cutting his throat with a sharp-edged weapon in the school washroom. He was shifted to the DHQ Hospital where he is stated to be out of danger. It is learnt that the student was annoyed with his parents. Police are investigating.
Meanwhile, Education EDO Iftikhar Nawaz Virk and DEO Rai Irshad visited the hospital and inquired after the student.
POWERLOOMS CLOSED: A large number of powerlooms have been closed due to unscheduled loadshedding of 14 to 15 hours in the district. Due to the closure of powerlooms, hundreds of labourers have become jobless. The labourers have demanded the government take steps to end the unscheduled loadshedding.
MUHARRAM PROCESSIONS: DPO Shakir Hussain Dawar on Friday visited routes of Muharram processions.
He visited Mohallah Hussainpura, Fawara Chowk, Ward No-1 and Main Bazaar. Meanwhile, 60 CCTV cameras have been installed on the route of the main procession by the district administration.
