FAISALABAD: Strict and foolproof security measures have been adopted by police to maintain the law and order during Muharram, said CPO Afzal Ahmad Kausar.
Talking to The News here on Friday, he said that more than 2,500 constables, 1,306 volunteers, 13 DSPs, 14 inspectors, 118 sub-inspectors and 341 ASIs would guard 186 Majalis and five Processions in the district on Muharram 3. He said that 10 teams of the Elite Force and Quick Relief Force would patrol round-the-clock while the people coming to attend Majalis and processions would have to enter through walkthrough gates after manual search.
He said that the Health Department had set up a medical camp at Chowk Clock Tower where the doctors and paramedics would be available for 24 hours. The city traffic police had also set up a special traffic control room and a traffic helpline.
Meanwhile, City Traffic Officer Sardar Muhammad Asif Khan said that a vigilance team of the traffic police had been deputed to monitor traffic flow in the city and arrange diversion points on routes of Majalis and processions.
