KARACHI: Top seed Aqeel Khan and fourth seed Heera Ashiq advanced into men’s singles final of Federal Cup ranking tennis championships 2015 after beating their respective opponents at Syed Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis complex in Islamabad on Friday.
In the first semi-final, Aqeel proved his superiority and eliminated third Muhammad Abid in straight sets by 6-3, 6-2.
Heera defeated Ahmed Chaudhry 6-3, 6-1.
The final will be played on Sunday (tomorrow).
In women’s singles event, top seed Sara Mansoor and third seed Sarah Mahboob qualified for the summit clash.
Sara proved too good for Khunsha Babar in their semi-final and recorded a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Third seed Sarah pulled off an upset, beating second seed Rida Khalid 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Their final will be played on Saturday (today).
