GUJRANWALA: Some 283 local government polls candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers and 64 candidates were elected unopposed out of 4,509 candidates who filed their nomination papers in Gujranwala district. The elected candidates also include the aspirants for the slots of UC chairmen, vice-chairmen and councilors. For the election of municipal corporation some 390 aspirants filed the papers and 22 withdrew the papers and two were elected unopposed. In general councilor wards 1,538 candidates filed the papers and 66 withdrew the papers and 16 were elected unopposed.
For district council polls some 504 candidates filed the papers and 50 withdrew and one was elected unopposed. For general councilors polls some 1,911 filed the papers and 145 withdrew and 38 were elected unopposed. For seven municipal committees polls of Kamoke, Nowshera Virkan, Gakhar and Alipur Chatha, seven councilors were elected unopposed so far.
