ABBOTTABAD: District Nazim Abbottabad Sardar Sher Bahadur alleged that the district administration did not allow him and Naib Nazim Shaukat Tanoli to attend Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s function at Nathiagali on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that he along with other district councillors, who were invited by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP), were stopped by the local administration on the directives of chief minister to enter into the premises of function.
“It’s not my insult but of 1.5 million people of Abbottabad as I am their elected representative and I am supposed to attend the events being held by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in Abbottabad,” he said, adding that he was still the district nazim and could not be barred by any authority as such kind of dealings by the party leadership had created sense of deprivation among the party workers and PTI loyalists.
Sher Bahadur said that the resthouses being the property of Abbottabad district had been handed over to the TCKP and being an elected representative he was bound to protect the rights of Abbottabad people.
He went on to say that clear violation of Local Government Act Section-J had been committed and due to wrong policies of the chief minister, only four PTI district nazims could be elected while in five districts coalition government had been formed which clearly spoke of the wrong policies of the chief minister.
Earlier, PTI chief Imran Khan flanked by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and other party leaders and provincial ministers attended the ceremony of handing over of resthouses.
District Nazim Sardar Sher Bahadur, who is facing a reference filed by PTI KP for violating party discipline, contested the LG elections against the party nominee, Ali Khan Jadoon and was elected with the support of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is under process at the Election Commission of Pakistan.
