LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said the country’s politics and democracy are protecting the interests of the elite as politics has become a tool of making money.
Addressing JI’s central office-bearers at Mansoora on Thursday, Sirajul Haq said the poor could only watch the game of politics but not participate in it as the sole objective was to squeeze the majority and benefit the elite. Sirajul Haq said the only job for the masses was to pay bills and taxes. The taxpayers were being forced to commit suicides while the elite were living in luxuries. He said pro-status quo forces wanted to keep the masses as slaves and the common man could not get any opportunity to progress.
He said when any member of the elite class was hauled up for mega corruption the democratic set up seemed to be in danger. He said the situation demanded that general public broke the hold of the corrupt elite and support JI for an Islamic system in the country. Sirajul Haq said that the constitution did not permit any discrimination between the rich and the poor. He said JI’s struggle would continue till the common man got rights equal to the feudal lords, vaderas and capitalists.
Later, while talking to Kissan Board president Sadiq Khakwani, JI ameer said cultivators were the biggest family in the country. He said the JI would set up special Kissan committees at village, Goth and Town levels.
He said the JI would continue its efforts to create an awakening among the poor and the Kissans. He said the Kissans and workers were the benefactors of the nation as they toiled hard day and night to feed the nation. He said the government had destroyed agriculture and industry, two pillars of the national economy. He said the Kissans and workers were in protest but the rulers remained unconcerned.
new ameer: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has appointed Mian Maqsood Ahmad as new ameer of JI, Punjab, for the next three years while Dr Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui would continue JI, Sindh, ameer for the second term. Mushtaq Ahmed Khan has been appointed as new ameer of JI, KPK, and Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi as ameer of JI, Balochistan.
These appointments have been made by Sirajul Haq on Thursday after the completion of the election process for the offices of ameer of all provinces in which referendum was held seeking the opinion of provincial members through secret ballot.
However, according to JI constitution, the central ameer has the power to appoint the highest vote getter from the panel of three candidates or to appoint any other from the panel who he thinks as the best suited. Sirajul Haq made the decisions after consultations with the party central office-bearers. Mian Maqsood has been holding the office of JI, Lahore district ameer.
