MULTAN: The dengue cases are on the rise in Multan as the number of patients has risen to 86 from 34 during the last some days.
Talking to The News here on Monday, focal person on dengue Dr Attaur Rehman said that four out of the 86 dengue patients belonged to Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan. He said that the patients were under treatment in the Nishtar Hospital. He said that the people ignored proper cleanliness at houses, shops and streets, which provided favourable environment to the growth of dengue larva.
Dr Attaur Rehman said that the teams were busy conducting anti-dengue spray at Nawan Sher and other areas where dengue spread was witnessed due to lack of cleanliness. He said that special measures had been taken in urban as well as rural areas of Multan to ensure prevention of dengue spread.
He said that the choked sewerage was also a major cause behind dengue spread. He said that the district had been declared high risk for dengue fever and the City District Administration had constituted survey teams to identify locations to carry out fumigation. He said that said 500 locations in the city had been declared sensitive as the dengue larva had been found in Sher Shah Town during the last some days.
