3,026 file papers for 91 slots

JHANG: For the third phase of local bodies’ elections in Punjab, some 3,026 candidates filed their nomination papers for 91 union councils of the district council and five municipalities of the district.
The District Coordination Officer has been notified as the District Returning Officer and the polls will be held on December 3, 2015.
According to sources, on Thursday some 413 candidates have filed their nomination papers for 91 union councils of the district council.
For 50 wards of Jhang Municipality 459 candidates have filed their nomination papers, for 23 wards of Shorkot some 104 candidates filed papers, for 12 wards of Ahmed Pur Sial some 51 candidates filed their papers, for 13 wards of Garh Maharaja some 59 candidates filed their papers, and for 11 wards of 18-Hazari’s Municipality some 61 candidates filed papers.
Former MPA and Advisor to CM Punjab Muhammad Aslam Khan Baharwana and former MNA Sahibzada Tahir Sultan are main candidates for the slot of Chairman of District Council, Jhang.
