MULTAN: Punjab Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah has ordered red alert and directed the departments concerned to take strict security arrangements for Muharram.
He was chairing a high level meeting held to review security arrangements for Muharram at Circuit House here on Wednesday. Punjab Home Secretary Maj (retd) Azam Suleman Khan, Punjab IGP Mushtaq Sukhera, Punjab Counter Terrorism Department Additional IG Rai Tahir and other senior police officials attended the meeting. Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah directed the police for taking effective law and order measures to ensure protection of lives of the public especially in Muharram.
He expressed his security concerns particularly after Multan Vehari Chowk bomb blast and said that action would be taken on delivering hate speeches on loud speakers during Muharram under the National Action Plan.
He said that terrorism nucleases had been unearthed across the country and their training centres in Waziristan had been razed.
He said that armed forces had completely bulldozed terrorists and they had shifted their camps to Afghanistan. He said that some international forces were working to destabilise this region and PM Nawaz Sharif had exposed them during his speech in the UN. He said that 500 religious seminaries had been searched in Punjab but not a single was found in imparting extremist education in Punjab. Rana Sanaullah said that the army, Rangers and police personnel had sacrificed their lives in war on terrorism and soon the country would free from terrorism. He stressed upon the effective role of peace committees and ordered that security arrangements should be made after consultation with the Ulema. He ordered Multan RPO Tariq Masood Saleemi to consult with the Peace Committee members before removing or including the names of Ulema in the forth schedule. Punjab Home Secretary Azam Suleman said that the Punjab government had taken foolproof security for Muharram. He said that all the DCOs and DPOS would be responsible for screening of routes of Muharram processions in the province. Punjab IGP Mushtaq Sukhera said that additional force and funds had been provided to the police and intelligence agencies for making foolproof security. Religious scholar Qari Hanif Jalandhari said that all religious schools of thought had extended cooperation to the government on improving law and order situation.
