Nawaz Sharif gave country new strength by conducting N-blasts: Shahbaz Sharif
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif has said his party Quaid Nawaz Sharif gave the country new strength among the comity of nations on this day by conducting nuclear blasts.
Addressing a Yaum-e-Takbeer event at the PML-N Lahore Secretariat via video-link, he said Pakistan declared itself as an atomic power under PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif through national unity, unwavering resolve and unshakeable belief. He said the time had arrived that the country should be made an economic power by following the same principles.
Shahbaz paid rich tribute to the heroes who made Pakistan the first nuclear power of the Islamic world and the 7th globally. He said on this day, Pakistan gave India a jaw-jarring response by conducting six successful nuclear tests in response to New Delhi's 5.
He said from Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to Nawaz Sharif, thousands of Pakistanis gave their entire lives to make it happen. They included scientists, armed forces and the unnamed heroes, who all deserved the status of Ghazis over their contribution to the great cause, he added.
Shahbaz regretted that the incumbent rulers not only lacked the resolve and will to take crucial decisions but also were incapacitated to unite the country. He said the inabilities and drawbacks of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government allowed India to besiege the entire population of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and annex the disputed territory under crushing curfew.
The National Assembly opposition leader said the incumbent government and its leaders were in a state of utter confusion and indecision on everything, be it response to Covid-19 pandemic or the country's economy.
He asked the nation to continue practising precautions and social distancing and celebrate Yaum-e-Takbeer at their homes. Meanwhile, PML-N Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb presented four resolutions at the Yaum-e-Takbeer event, which were unanimously passed by the party meeting.
In the first resolution, Nawaz Sharif's uncompromising and unwavering leadership was hailed, that led to announcing Pakistan as an atomic power and making country’s defence insurmountable. The resolution also paid rich tribute to the scientists, engineers and all those who played a role in making it happen. It condemned the malicious smear campaign and political victimisation of Nawaz Sharif.
The second resolution posed relentless support and faith in the leadership of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and President Shahbaz Sharif. The third resolution criticised the PTI government's lack of strategy and action on all pressing issues including economic challenges, fight against Covid-19 and the threat of raging locust swarm attacks.
The fourth resolution called for immediate release of Hamza Shahbaz. It called for action against sugar and wheat thieves and all those corrupt elements that are being protected by top government office-holders.
Speaking at the meeting, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said tremendous sacrifices were made not just by the political, military leadership but also by those who dedicated their lives to this cause.
Abbasi said leading a country required a ton of qualities, but none of which were present in the current ruling party. PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah criticised the government for undermining and downplaying one of the most important days in Pakistan's history only because of its envy for PML-N.
PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal lauded the leadership of Nawaz Sharif that made the uncompromising decision on Yaum-e-Takbeer. He said the two elements of true sovereignty are insurmountable defence and strong economy. He stressed that without a strong economy a country's decisions can never be sovereign. And under this incompetent government, building a strong economy was impossible.
Former Railways minister Khwaja Saad Rafiq said the incumbent government was bent on political victimisation, vengeance and smear campaigns and lacked the ability and vision to tackle the challenges faced by Pakistan currently.
