31 suspects held in Gujranwala search operation

GUJRANWALA: Police and other law enforcement agencies on Saturday conducted a search operation in adjoining areas of the District Jail and arrested 31 suspected persons. The suspected persons have been shifted to the Civil Lines police station for further investigation.
THOUSANDS FILE NOMINATION PAPERS: Thousands of people have filed nomination papers for various seats for the upcoming Local Government elections here.
The returning officers have completed scrutiny process. There are 73 municipal committees in the district for which 413 forms were submitted for chairmen and vice-chairmen slots while 26 forms were rejected. Likewise, 1,677 forms were filed for councillors and 177 were rejected by the returning officers. For 93 district council seats, 523 forms were submitted and out of which 26 were rejected. Similarly, 2,087 nomination papers were filed for councillor slots from which 236 were rejected. Likewise, for 55 municipal wards, 253 forms were filled and 99 were rejected by the returning officers.
ELECTROCUTED: An addict was electrocuted at Francisabad in Khiali police limits on Saturday.
Mohsin was allegedly trying to enter the house of his neighbour by climbing a wall when suddenly he touched a livewire. As a result, he received electric shocks and died on the spot. Khiali police have registered a case.
