Traders laud PM speech at UN

MULTAN: The business community Friday lauded speech delivered by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the UN General Assembly where he reminded the world community, especially the United Nations, its failures in resolving the Kashmir dispute.
They said the PM’s address was a clear proof of the fact that Pakistan wanted peaceful and cordial ties with its neighbours. The Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) president Mian Fareed Mughis ‘A Sheikh said India should understand that it could not dictate terms to its neighbour and that stubbornness in no way could help ensure peace in the region. He urged New Delhi to take steps to resolve all disputes in accordance with the diplomatic norms. He appealed the international community to prevail upon India to halt its state terrorism in occupied Kashmir and implement the relevant UN resolutions on Kashmir.
Fareed said the PM’s address to the UN reflected aspirations of the people. MCCI senior vice president Ata Shafi Tanvir Sheikh said this is the bolder stance in the present situation, which will provide a solid ground for the resolution of the Kashmir issue. He hoped that Indian leadership would give a positive response in the interest of progress and prosperity of South Asia. The MCCI vice president Major (retd) Tariq Khan said the PM’s endeavour to promote peace in the region will help reduce poverty and improve the living standard of the people of South Asia.
