LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said those who are plundering public money deserve no leniency and JI wants every looted penny should be recovered from them.
Moral, economic and political corruption has shaken foundations of society and the corruption is the main hurdle in country’s development, the JI ameer said while talking to the party office-bearers and different delegations who called on him at Mansoora on Wednesday.
Sirajul Haq said political opportunists changed parties and slogans but their character remained unchanged. He said non-implementation of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution had enabled corrupt politicians to reach assemblies although the proper place for them was Adiyala Jail.
The JI chief said politicians who had developed the taste for loot and plunder could not mend their ways and they could not live without commissions and kickbacks. He said whenever action was taken against the plunderers, they started shouting of political victimisation. He asked who had authorised NAB to let those who had plundered billions after paying a few lakhs.
He said those who had plundered billions and deposited in their personal bank accounts were the biggest tyrants as it was because of them that the country was under huge debt of IMF and World Bank. While every newborn in the country was under debt of thousands, the corrupt rulers owned posh palaces in major world cities like London and Dubai, he added.
Sirajul Haq commended the role of media in exposing the corrupt. He said JI was mobilising public opinion against status quo and corruption. The JI, he said, had honest and competent leadership at all levels as was capable of serving the nation and putting the country on the path to progress and stability. Sirajul Haq hoped that the masses would differentiate between their friends and foes.
Meanwhile, Sirajul Haq has summoned the meeting of JI central Shoora at Mansoora on October 2.
The three-day moot would discuss the prevailing political situation in the country. The central Working Committee (Majlis-e-Aamila) of JI would meet at Mansoora on October 1 (today).
