Nawaz warrants contempt of court orders: Shahbaz
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President and opposition leader in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the arrest warrants issued for party Quaid Nawaz Sharif.
In a statement here on Thursday, he said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) act was a violation of the law and a blatant contempt of the court orders.
Shahbaz said the Sharif family, Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N had always abided by the law. Nawaz Sharif was under treatment for which he went abroad with the permission of the court after fulfilling all legal requirements. He said the NAB action was based purely on mala-fide intentions.
Shahbaz said, “Imran Khan is making the entire nation pay for his obsession with political vengeance and victimisation. Issuing an arrest warrant for Nawaz in a 34-year-old case is the most shameful proof of the NAB-Niazi unholy alliance”.
The PML-N president said Imran Khan had failed to contain the spread of coronavirus, and provide relief to the poor. That is why, Niazi has resorted to such tactics to divert the public attention from persecution of the opposition leaders.
