PTI asks PPP to form PFC instead of clamouring over 18 amendment’s review decision

A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader on Tuesday asked the Pakistan People’s Party leaders to form a provincial finance commission (PFC) award instead of shouting unnecessarily over a decision to revisit the 18th Constitutional Amendment.

Khurram Sher Zaman, the PTI Karachi president and MPA, said the provinces had been getting money under the National Finance Commission (NFC) awards, but the federation should also see where the money was going.

He claimed that irregularities of Rs900 billion in the Sindh province had been revealed. “After the 18th amendment, are our children getting education in government schools?” he asked.

He maintained that the Sindh government had completely destroyed the quality of education.

“Even today, the health system in the province is not good. People are worried about medical treatment,” he said. The PTI leader said the 18th amendment had only harmed the people of Sindh. Other provinces also had the 18th amendment, but Sindh was lagging behind, he added.

He was of the view that the 18th amendment needed to be reviewed for the betterment of the province.

MPA Zaman said the interest of the country should be looked at instead of the benefit of a specific political party. “The Pakistan Peoples Party receives billions of rupees in terms of the NFC. We also want development work in our Sindh province," he said.

“Those who talk about the NFC have become silent on forming a commission on a PFC itself. Decisions imposed by the Sindh government on the Karachi city cannot be enforced,” he said.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the Sindh government had completely failed to impose the lockdown in the province, he claimed.

Requesting the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of a forced lockdown in Karachi, the PTI MPA said that in the name of the lockdown, the industries of Karachi had been destroyed.

He said the decisions of the "clumsy" Sindh government were causing an economic catastrophe in the province.
