‘Faisalabad city requires multidimensional advancement to cope with different challenges’

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Muhammad Suhail Khawaja has directed the engineering section officers to conceive new projects for development of the city keeping the future requirements in view.

He was presiding over a meeting to review the progress of ongoing development projects being carried out under the supervision of the FDA. Chief Engineer Shahid Mehmood, Director Town Planning Mehr Ayub, Deputy Director Engineering Hasan Zaheer, Deputy Director Admin Yasir Ijaz Chattha and other officers were present in the meeting.

The FDA director general said that the development of Faisalabad city required multidimensional advancement to cope with different challenges in social sector.

He said that the members of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other business organisations could be consulted while proposing the development and beautification projects.

He maintained that the public needs and demands relating to the issues of traffic, urban transport, drainage and water supply, establishment of special commercial markets, promotion of housing sector and other social sectors should be kept in view in the new projects.

He proposed that the community could also be mobilised for participation in city development and public relief projects. During the meeting, the FDA director general reviewed the pace of work on uplift schemes being carried out under Prime Minister’s Sustainable Development Programme and Annual Development Programme.

AID PROGRAMME: As many as Rs 2.6 billion have been disbursed among 216,660 deserving people in four districts of Faisalabad division under

the first and second phases of the Ehsaas Programme. This was stated by Commissioner Ishrat Ali in a briefing here. He said that 164 counters had been set up at total 46 centres across the division for implementation of the Ehsaas programme and Rs 12,000 per person were being provided. He said that 112,016 beneficiaries got the amount in Faisalabad, 28,632 in Chiniot district, 48,484 in Jhang district and 27,528 in Toba Tek Singh district.

He said that during the biometric verification some applicants were also giving their remaining dues and all the process was continued in a transparent manner. The commissioner said that the deputy commissioners of all four districts, education and other officers, police, Pak Army and Rangers, were also performing duties, while standard arrangements for sitting in classrooms of deserving persons were also ensured at the centres. He informed that sanitizer was available on the entrance of the centres to facilitate the public while social distancing was also being ensured. He said that comprehensive monitoring of all centres would continue till the completion of the Ehsaas programme. He informed that the CM Insaaf Imdad programme would kick off soon.

DPC MEETS: A meeting of the District Peace Committee was held in the DC Office. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali chaired the meeting while ADCR Mian Aftab Ahmad and other officers attended it. The deputy commissioner welcomed the participants and told them about the precautionary measures adopted against corona in the district.

He appealed to the clerics to sensitize the people to stay at home and encourage them to offer prayers at home. He said that during the holy month of Ramazan, there should be complete implementation on unanimous declaration set by clerics. Mufti Muhammad Zia Madni, Maulana Muhammad Riaz Kharal, Jaffar Naqvi and other Ulema appreciated the administration’s steps to prevent corona spread and assured their full cooperation.
