Hamza Shahbaz to be indicted on May 4
LAHORE: An accountability court Thursday extended judicial remand of PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz in assets beyond means and money-laundering investigation by May 4.
The authorities didn’t produce Hamza before the accountability court judge Jawad-ul-Hassan due to Coronavirus situation. It is pertinent to mention that in this case, the Lahore High Court had refused to grant bail to Hamza Shahbaz. Moreover, father of Hamza and Opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif is also under radar of the NAB in money-laundering case against Shahbaz family. According to the accountability bureau, an investigation against Shahbaz, Hamza, Salman and others for the offence of “corruption and corrupt practices” had revealed that Shahbaz had acquired properties in the name of his wives Nusrat Shahbaz and Tehmina Durrani. Among the properties frozen are nine plots in Lahore’s Johar Town, four in Judicial Colony, two houses in Model Town and as many houses in DHA. Furthermore, the Bureau has also frozen a cottage and a villa in Pir Sohawa and two more plots in Chiniot. The NAB concluded that Shahbaz and his sons Hamza and Suleman acquired assets beyond their known sources of income and allegedly committed money-laundering.
APP adds: The accountability court adjourned hearing till May 4 and summoned Hamza Shahbaz for indictment in the supplementary reference on the next date of hearing.
