Ex-PHC Chief Justice Tariq Parvez passes away
PESHAWAR: Former chief justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Tariq Parvez passed away on Saturday.
His funeral prayers were offered at Shami Road. The Namaz-i-Janaza was largely attended by people from all walks of life, particularly by judges and lawyers.
Born on February15, 1948 in Peshawar, Tariq Parvez got his early education in the city. He did his LLB in 1971 from the Faculty of Law, University of Peshawar. He did his Masters in Political Science in 1975 also from University of Peshawar.
He was enrolled as an advocate of the District Courts in Peshawar in 1972. He secured a license to practice in the high court in 1975. He was appointed judge of the PHC in 1997 and elevated as chief justice in April 2005 where he served till October 2009. Later, he was made judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from where he retired in February 2013.
Justice Tariq Parvez also served as caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from March 20, 2013 to May 31, 2013.
