Bilawal Bhutto Zardari wants package for doctors, paramedics, daily wagers
ISLAMABAD: Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday criticised the government for announcing a package for the construction sector neglecting doctors and paramedics and daily wagers showing its interest for profit at the cost of human life.
Bilawal posted a tweet saying the government neither announced any package for doctors and paramedics engaged against the pandemic in the frontlines nor for the daily wagers who had been affected the most by the lockdown. “The country may face the consequences of wrong priorities of our government in days and weeks to come,” he said, adding, “This is the time to deal with health issues and to look after the needy.”
Meanwhile, a video link meeting of leaders from Gilgit Baltistan headed by Bilawal asked the federal government to help the provinces in the fight against COVID-19. The Gilgit Baltistan leaders briefed Bilawal on the situation amid the pandemic and told the chairman that even the Chinese government provided relief package to Gilgit Baltistan but the federal government did nothing. They said the government changed the BISP with Ehsaas and gathered people at different points resulting in the spread of Covid-19. “Doctors in GB are working without PPEs and Dr. Osama Riaz lost his life due to the negligence of the federal government.” He thanked the Chinese government and said the federal government must also give relief package to GB.
