12 confirmed cases of corona in Faisalabad: minister
FAISALABAD: Punjab Minister for Public Prosecution Ch Zaheeruddin has said that 134 people from Faisalabad have been tested on the suspicion of coronavirus and so far 12 of them have been confirmed positive in the district.
He was giving briefing to the media on the situation of coronavirus in the district at the Commissioner Office on Tuesday. The Punjab minister lauded the efforts of the district administration, police, doctors, journalists and security forces against coronavirus and hoped that we would win against corona with the joint efforts. He told that 19 patients being treated in other districts belonged to Faisalabad. He informed that 151 pilgrims from Taftan and Multan quarantines had been sent to their homes after consecutive negative reports. He said that nine Tableeghi Jamaat persons out of total 61 tested positive while three results were still not received.
He said that 180 overseas Pakistanis were arriving at the airport from Abu Dhabi and those who would bear the cost of the hotels would be kept there while others would be kept in quarantine centres where their samples would be taken after 48 hours. The provincial minister said that the parliamentarians were mobilised to assist the poor in their constituencies. To a question that the hotel owners had agreed to temporarily accommodate the passengers, he told that they had negotiated all the matters with the DC.
He said that despite weak economy, we were all working together to defeat coronavirus. He said that the speed of the testing process had been accelerated. He asked the citizens through media to take precautions and remain present in their houses so that the protection against coronavirus could be ensured.
Meanwhile, as many as 46,319 deserving women have been paid Rs 12,000 each at 18 centres in the district during the last five days. Commissioner Ishrat Ali, RPO Raja Rifat Mukhtar, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali and CPO Sohail Ch visited different centres and reviewed the distribution of financial aid among the women and necessary arrangements.
