Boxer Waseem set to launch Falcon Foundation
KARACHI: Pakistan’s premier professional boxer and former World No 1 Mohammad Waseem on Tuesday said that he is going to launch Falcon Foundation in the near future to serve the humanity.
“Yes I had a meeting with around 20 people of high repute here in Quetta the other day and they have pledged to support me,” Waseem disclosed it to ‘The News’ during a brief chat from his hometown Quetta where he also quarantined.
“The Falcon Foundation will work on rashan distribution in the wake of Covid-19 immediately. Besides this it will work in the long run on Thalassemia patients, hospitals, sports and other areas where my services will be needed,” said Waseem, also the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games silver medallist. He said that he is already doing a lot of work by providing money to the poor people in this pressing time in Quetta.
He said that he would also take help of his company MTK Global in the cause and will raise donations in United Kingdom, United States, Scotland, Korea, Japan and Central Asian countries.
“In America I have huge fan-following as I have trained there for a long time. Those people are very kind and I can raise more donations there. In England and Scotland I also spend most of my time and hopefully I will be able to work well for my foundation,” said Waseem, the bronze medallist of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
Waseem, also two-time WBC flyweight silver world champion, said that he is working hard to grab the coveted world title and that will further help him to play a more solid role for his foundation. “I had almost reached my title bout but due to my personal issues and now the COVID-19 pandemic everything has been delayed.
“Hopefully soon I will be back in the ring when this virus issue will end,” said Waseem, whose fight last month in Kazakhstan was cancelled due to coronavirus. Waseem played two bouts last year winning both in Dubai.
