Four TTP insurgents surrender in Orakzai Agency; 65 POs arrested in Karak

PESHAWAR: Three alleged militants were killed in an encounter after they attack a police patrolling car in Shabqadar town of Charsadda district on Wednesday.
Police said armed attackers opened fire on a police car near Akhun Zafar Baba graveyard that was retaliated. The encounter between the attackers and policemen continued for sometime during which three suspected militants were gunned down, officials said. The officials added that klashninkovs, hand grenades and other weapons were recovered from the attackers.
Our correspondent in Hangu adds: Four militants surrendered to the security forces in Orakzai Agency, official sources said on Wednesday.
The sources said that four militants affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Aslam Faruqi Group, surrendered to the security forces and renounced militancy.
One of the surrendered militants was identified as Muhammad Gul.
The sources said that 11 militants of the same group had earlier surrendered to the forces.
Meanwhile, the district administration imposed section 144 in the district during Eid.
A press release said that pillion-riding, display of weapon and collecting hides by unregistered organisations would not be allowed.
It added that provocative speeches had also been banned.
Our correspondent in Karak adds: The Karak police claim to have arrested 65 proclaimed offenders (POs) and also recovered a cache of weapons and drugs.
According a press release issued here on Wednesday, the district police arrested 65 POs in three weeks and recovered one Kalashnikov, three guns, three rifles, 20 pistols, 370 cartridges of different bores, 15 magazines and four bottle of liquor, 6kg hashish and 186 grams heroin during search operations and raids.
The press release said that the accused were wanted by the Karak police in cases of various crimes.
Meanwhile, a proclaimed offender Shahid, resident of Tataki, was arrested by Banda Daud Shah Police Station from Quetta in a double murder case.
