Taxi driver shot dead in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: A taxi driver was killed by unidentified people here on Monday.
Unidentified people hired the taxi of Anwar Ali of Faisalabad for Lahore. Near Chak 67/GB, the people shot Anwar dead, threw his body on a road and escaped on his taxi. Police are investigating.
PO HELD: On the orders of CPO Afzal Ahmad Kausar, police arrested a proclaimed offender in an abduction for ransom case here on Monday.
Police, on a tip-off, raided and arrested proclaimed offender Mehboob Alam, who was wanted in a case registered with Samundri Sadr police. He was absconding for the last 10 years. He had abducted Irfan Ali of Chak 199/GB for Rs 50 million ransom. Irfan’s friend Muhammad Ilyas of Chak 115/GB, who had helped in the abduction, had already been arrested and was awarded death penalty by a court.
COP DEMOTED: On the orders of the Iqbal Town SP, a head constable of Batala Colony police station was demoted to the rank of constable for negligence in duty. Head Constable Shahbaz Ahmad had allegedly received bribe from a man in a case.

Imtiaz Ahmad and his three friends allegedly abducted the woman from Batala Colony. The accused took the woman to an unknown place where they raped her. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
