Pervaiz Elahi calls PPP leader, announces parliamentary body on COVID-19
LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi phoned parliamentary leader of Pakistan People’s Party in Punjab Assembly Syed Hassan Murtaza, and consulted with him on activating the assembly forum over coronavirus.
Talking to the PPP leader, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi announced formation of a parliamentary committee. Pervaiz Elahi said that the committee would consist of parliamentary leaders of all parties to play a role in tackling the COVID-19 epidemic and providing relief to its victims.
PPP Parliamentary Leader Hassan Murtaza lauded the move and said that it was a good step that the Punjab Assembly would play a dynamic role in this crisis through the committee.
In any crisis, the role of the elected House is of paramount importance and it cannot be inactive in any crisis, he said. He stated the role of the PA Speaker was positive.
