KASUR: Two robbers were killed during an encounter with police near Raja Jang village here on Sunday.
According to DPO Ali Nasir Rizvi, Kot Radha Kishan police were bringing two alleged robbers Abdul Ghaffar and Mumtaz alias Bholi, who were involved in 37 cases, to Kasur for the recovery of looted items when four accused allegedly attacked the police near Rao Khanwala village in the limits of Sheikhum police and got released them from the police custody.
The DPO claimed that the alleged attackers also snatched weapons from the police officials. Later, the robbers deprived a man of his motorcycle and cash and managed their escape, he added.
The DPO said that the police chased the dacoits and stopped them near Raja Jang village.
On seeing the police, the robbers opened fire at the police party, which was retaliated, the DPO maintained. The DPO claimed that the alleged robbers were killed by the firing of their own accomplices who later fled. The police also recovered the weapons snatched from the police officials, the DPO added.
