KARACHI: Karachi Blues defeated Faisalabad by six wickets on the last day of their four-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy qualifying round match here at the Southend Club Ground on Sunday.
Karachi Blues, who needed just nine runs to win, started their second innings at 76-4 and raced to 85-run target without losing any further wicket.
Behram Khan remained not out on 40 in which he hit six fours. Basit Ali scored unbeaten four.
Faisalabad had scored 252 and 193. Karachi Blues had posted 361 in their first innings.
At the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, left-arm Test pacer Mohammad Amir grabbed seven wickets in the match to guide Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to a 93-run victory over Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL).
Chasing 278, ZTBL resumed the day at 136-3 and were bowled out after adding only 48 runs to their overnight total.
Amir, who had picked two wickets in the first innings, blew the bankers batting line-up with ruthless bowling, picking five wickets in the second innings to make an impressive start to the event.
SSGC had scored 335 and 116 all out. ZTBL had posted 174 in their first innings.
At the NBP Sports Complex here, FATA overwhelmed Abbottabad by nine wickets.
FATA chased the 48-run target in eight overs after losing the wicket of Mohammad Naeem who fell for 11.
Fawad Khan remained not out on 30 in which he hammered three fours and one six. Almar Khan Afridi scored two not out.
Saifullah got 1-11.
After being forced to follow-on, Abbottabad began their second innings at 227-9 and lost the last wicket without adding to their overnight total. Rahim Baz claimed four wickets.

Anas Mehmood struck unbeaten 74 in which he struck eight fours and a six. Asad Baig made 14 not out. Nadeem Javed belted 39 with three fours. Medium-pacer Irfan Elahi captured 1-49. KPT had posted 347 in their first innings. In response, KRL staged 385.
