Sheikhupura police slammed for arresting JI leader
LAHORE: JI secretary general Amirul Azeem has condemned the arrest and one day detention in Sheikhupura police lock-up of JI leader Sheikh Muhammad Jameel, terming it a conspiracy to prevent JI from distribution of rations, masks and sanitizers. In a statement here on Tuesday, he demanded Chief Minister Usman Buzdar take notice of former JI district ameer and in-charge of mass distribution campaign for coronavirus prevention, Sheikh Jameel’s arrest in a fake embezzlement case and unlawful detention. He warned that if culprits were not punished then JI would be forced to stage protests against the government and police. He said Sheikhupura administration was trying to sabotage the JI’s campaign against coronavirus, but JI workers were determined to work for public welfare without fear.
