Corona victim buried in Okara
OKARA: Akbar, a coronavirus patient who had died at Mayo Hospital Lahore on Sunday night, was buried at his ancestral graveyard at 25/GD village on Monday.
The dead body of Akbar, 45, was brought to his village from Lahore in the supervision of government personnel. Later, his funeral was attended by six persons of his family. Earlier, police personnel and the army had closed the road leading towards the graveyard and no one was allowed to gather near coffin. Municipal Corporation Chief Officer Fida Iftikhar Mir supervised the last ritual and burial of the deceased. Akbar’s house and his surrounding houses are under the supervision of police rather isolated and the virus-related tests of 14 family members had already been sent to a laboratory. District Health Authority’s team led by Health CEO Dr Abdul Majeed took Akbar’s elder brother Allah Ditta and cousin Ghulam Sarwar to Lahore for isolation and further tests. The rest of the family was kept at the house under the police guard and no one was allowed to pass near the house.
NINE NOMINATED AS BURIAL TEAM: The Punjab government has nominated nine members as burial team at tehsil level across the province. The Health Deputy District Officer would be the chairman while sanitary inspector of concerned health unit (CHU), MO CHU, lady sanitary worker in case of female dead body, sub-inspector of concerned police station, concerned revenue officer, MC CO Okara, sanitary inspector of MC and secretary union council of the concerned UC would be the members. According to the SOP, only burial team would accompany the dead body. 19 BOOKED: Police on Monday booked 19 people for manhandling their rivals at 26/2L village. Complainant Saleema Bibi alleged that 19 accused with clubs entered her house and allegedly thrashed and manhandled her and her sons, Ghulam Mustafa and Ghulam Murtaza, and her daughter-in-law.
