SHC seeks reports on screening, testing of inmates for COVID-19
The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed all the commissioners and the deputy commissioners to submit reports within three days with regard to the coronavirus tests and screening of inmates, the supply of sanitizers and masks, and the fumigation in different prisons of the province.
The SHC directed the commissioners and deputy commissioners to send the reports through a member of the inspection team II. The SHC also directed them to ensure that any accused remanded in the judicial custody by the judicial magistrate should be screened and tested for coronavirus.
No legal proceedings
The Sindh Bar Council (SBC) have announced that in view of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown regime in place, it would put the lawyers, the judges and the litigants in danger if they carried on with the court proceedings as per the routine.
Therefore, the SBC has decided to stay away from all the court proceedings from March 30 to April 4, save for the urgent matters. SBC Vice Chairman Syed Haider Imam Rizvi and Chairman Executive committee Shafqat Rahim said the SBC in furtherance of the previous decision had decided that the lawyers throughout the province shall stay away from all court, including the SHC and special courts, from March 30 to April 4, save for the urgent matters only, until further decision in this regard.
