Citizens face shortage of daily use items

GUJRANWALA: Citizens Thursday faced shortage of daily use items at the outlets of Utility Stores Corporation in Gujranwala.

Reportedly, citizens experienced shortage of wheat flour, sugar, oil and other daily use essential items in the wake of lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus. The locals were disappointed when they visited the USC outlets to buy things after experiencing price hike of pulses, flour, cooking oil, grams, sugar and other items in open market. They also faced increase in prices of fruit and vegetables. They urged the authorities concerned to take strict action against profiteers.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TAKEN AT JAIL: Jail Superintendent Mirza Sajid Baig Thursday said in view of coronavirus scare all possible precautionary measures have been taken in the central jail Gujranwala.

He said the jail administration has set up an isolation ward and 32 quarantine centres in the jail. He said at the time no prisoner is suffering from flu or fever and health and other officers have visited the jail. Mirza old basins with hand sanitizer facility have been installed at all prominent places in the jail and all jail employees and new prisoners will be allowed entry in the jail after their complete check-up.
