Three extortionists jailed for 10 years

An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday sentenced three men to 10 years in jail each in cases pertaining to demanding extortion and possessing illicit weapons.

The ATC-XX awarded imprisonment to Hamza, Bilal and Imran after they were found guilty of threatening Noor Alam, a resident of Orangi Town, to pay Rs1.5 million as extortion, said assistant prosecutor general Iqbal Meo.

The cases were registered under sections 384, 385, 386 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and section 23(1)a of the Sindh Arms Act read with section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Mominabad police station.
